Is it steel, or is it Memorex?

Years ago, there was a television commercial where the magnificent Ella Fitzgerald sang a note that shattered a glass, while being recorded on a Memorex cassette. When the tape was played back, the recording also broke the glass -- the question being: "Is it live, or is it Memorex?"
We recently unveiled our new tradeshow booth at the GlobalShop 2011 trade show in Las Vegas, and we are pleased to report that what looked like a steel finish on the columns in our booth attracted quite a bit of Memorex-like attention.
People came into the booth to simply touch them, tap them and run their hands over the surface to find out what they were made out of. “No”, I would explain, “our budget does not lend itself to a trade show booth with steel columns.”
However, we wanted to create a sleek and modern look for the booth, and with our very own Cefla/Falcioni Kleenspray equipment and what was really MDF board, we were able to create the appearance of steel, at a fraction of the cost. And the attention from our booth visitors was priceless.
We have been using the Kleenspray system for many of our customer’s projects, whether it is on slatwall, shelving, racking, and cabinet fronts. We can also use it on materials such as wood and plastic, to achieve an extremely high quality and consistent finish at a reasonable price. Another big advantage is we can match any PMS color, giving you the exact look you want.
Our customers have been thrilled with the results and the cost savings. If you are interested in learning more about how E.L.F. can provide you with display fixtures that are capable of providing a Memorex type of experience in your stores, please give me a call at 1-888-535-3966.

The ABCs of Retailing: Gen X and Gen Y

Generation X and Y –
They text more than talk. Raised on computers, they're more at home online than anywhere else and they've definitely transformed the concept of "friend” as social networks such as Facebook and Twitter redefines the concept.
"When designing store environments, let alone the fixtures and displays that will make that store up, retailers and product manufacturers are accustom to accommodating the estimated 76 million Americans classified as Baby Boomers (ages 46-64). However, it's critical that they focus on the next generations. Gen X (ages 29-45) and Gen Y (ages 10-28) are not the wave of the future; they're in stores now and their economic impact overshadows the Boomers. More importantly, they have very different buying patterns than any other generation before.
How many consumers are we talking about? Industry analysts estimate there are approximately 48 million Gen X’rs and 85 million Gen Y’rs.
What should you keep in mind? For starters, here's a quick primer.
About them. It really is all about them, their likes and dislikes. They tend to be impatient and easily distracted. For them, a shopping experience should make it easy to find what they want, when they want it. And sometimes they want it all-including options such as banking and health services at the retail location.
Branding. These are consumers that are brand-savvy. A strong brand that communicates how your product is the best solution to solve their problem is essential to reaching them, and must definitely extend throughout the retail environment (in store and online)
Connected. And boy, are they connected. They've got a Droid, an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. They tweet, they friend and defriend each other on Facebook. They are extremely comfortable with technology in their lives, including interactive kiosks and mobile payments, and they see it as a requirement not a option. To be successful today, retailers cannot keep rolling out fixtures and displays the way they have in the past.
E.L.F. means…. CONNECTED.
We can help you and your stores reflect the needs of your customers across generations.
